ARMIG AND SAYAT NOVA is the story of an eleven-year-old shepherd boy who conquers his shyness, discovers his musical talents, and learns how to stand up for his beliefs.

Armig Kargudorian lives in eighteenth-century Armenia with his widowed mother and his aunt, who are cooks for the village inn.

In the evenings, the villagers often gather to watch and hear Sayat Nova, the great minstrel, play the kamanja (a stringed instrument) and sing his songs. Armig longs to learn to play the kamanja, but he is far too shy to talk to Sayat Nova, and has no money for lessons.

Armig grazes his sheep near the Sayat Nova's home, to hear the musician's rehearsal sessions. One day, Sayat Nova hears Armig whistling an original tune, and offers him a kamanja and free lessons. Before long, Armig joins Sayat Nova in performing for the villagers. Eventually, the King of Armenia himself comes to recognize Armig's talent.

In the end, Armig learns that his dreams CAN come true: he can perform before an audience; he can speak before a King; and he can provide for the needs of his family.

$22.00 per spiral-bound copy (Postage is $3; Insurance is $1.30). 248 Pages.

In writing this cookbook, Mary's vision was to make it a book for both the body and the soul -- incorporating recipies for unique and some exotic dishes (food for the body) along with Bible verses and her own interpretations of them (food for the soul). Some recipies are easy and quick; others are a bit more complex. Includes several Middle-Eastern and Armenian recipies.
